Thayir sadam or curd rice as popularly called is an inseparable part of South Indian meal. It is a great summer meal with rice and yogurt being the two important ingredients. Curd rice can be made in different variations. It is perfectly suitable for all age groups.
|½ cup Payasa rice|
|2 cups curd|
|¼ cup milk (optional)|
|Salt as needed|
|1 tsp finely chopped coriander leaves|
|1 finely chopped green chilly|
|1 pinch Asafoetida or hing|
|1 ½ cup water|
|2 red chillies|
|1 tsp peanuts|
|1.||Wash and soak Payasa rice for 30 mins.|
|2.||Add 1 ½ cup water to the cooker, add rice to it and pressure cook.|
|3.||Cool it completely and mash it lightly.|
|4.||Add curd to cooled rice.|
|5.||Add salt as per your taste and mix well.|
|6.||Heat oil in a pan, add curry leaves, chopped green chillies and hing.|
|6.||When the curry leaves turn crisp, pour all the ingredients into the prepared curd rice.|
|6.||Garnish it with coriander leaves or crisp red chillies or roasted peanuts.|
