
Curd Rice

Thayir sadam or curd rice as popularly called is an inseparable part of South Indian meal. It is a great summer meal with rice and yogurt being the two important ingredients. Curd rice can be made in different variations. It is perfectly suitable for all age groups.
INGREDIENTS
½ cup Payasa rice |
2 cups curd |
¼ cup milk (optional) |
Salt as needed |
1 tsp finely chopped coriander leaves |
Curry leaves |
1 finely chopped green chilly |
1 pinch Asafoetida or hing |
1 ½ cup water |
2 red chillies |
1 tsp peanuts |
METHOD
1. | Wash and soak Payasa rice for 30 mins. |
2. | Add 1 ½ cup water to the cooker, add rice to it and pressure cook. |
3. | Cool it completely and mash it lightly. |
4. | Add curd to cooled rice. |
5. | Add salt as per your taste and mix well. |
6. | Heat oil in a pan, add curry leaves, chopped green chillies and hing. |
6. | When the curry leaves turn crisp, pour all the ingredients into the prepared curd rice. |
6. | Garnish it with coriander leaves or crisp red chillies or roasted peanuts. |
